Google Daily August 14: Google DeepMind Launches Gemini 3.7 Flash at Half the Price

Here is today's Google Daily for Friday August 14th. Yesterday, Google DeepMind introduced Gemini 3.7 Flash, the newest version of its fast, lower-cost “workhorse” model for developers and businesses. Google says it delivers stronger performance in software engineering, web development, knowledge work, and AI agents, just three weeks after Gemini 3.6 Flash launched. [1]

The practical focus is on work that takes more than a single chatbot response. DeepMind says 3.7 Flash has improved results in coding tasks such as debugging and resolving issues, can produce more functional web layouts and applications with fewer prompts, and is more accurate at handling real-world business workflows. That matters because the most useful AI systems increasingly need to follow instructions across multiple steps, use tools reliably, and deliver output that can be put directly into production. [2]

Google is also making a cost play. DeepMind chief Demis Hassabis said the introductory price is half the original cost of Gemini 3.6 Flash, while Google AI Studio leader Logan Kilpatrick says that reduced price will run through the end of the year. Gemini 3.7 Flash is available through the API, AI Studio, Antigravity, and other Google developer channels. [3]

The headline here is not simply that another model version arrived. It is the pace: Google has moved from 3.5 to 3.6 and now 3.7 Flash in a short period, with each release aimed at improving the model’s usefulness in actual work while keeping it fast and affordable. Sundar Pichai described Flash models as products that pair performance with strong economics, and that is becoming a central part of Google’s strategy. [4]
