Page-to-pod extension

Page-to-pod is a Chrome extension that turns the page you're reading into a podcast episode. Click the icon, pick one of your pods and a summary length, and The Daily FM narrates the article into that pod's feed. Listen on the site or in any podcast app.

Because the extension reads the article right from your browser tab, it works on pages that server-side fetchers can't reach.

Install the extension

The extension is awaiting review on the Chrome Web Store. Until the listing is live, install it manually. It takes about a minute:

  1. Download thedailyfm-extension.zip and unzip it.
  2. Open chrome://extensions and turn on Developer mode (top right).
  3. Click Load unpacked and select the unzipped folder.

To keep it handy, click the puzzle-piece icon in Chrome's toolbar and pin Page to Pod with The Daily FM. A manually installed extension doesn't auto-update; this page will link the store listing as soon as it's approved.

Send a page

You'll need a free account and at least one pod. See Your first custom series if you don't have one yet.

  1. Sign in at thedaily.fm in Chrome. The extension uses your existing session.
  2. On the page you want to hear, click the extension icon.
  3. Pick the pod and a summary length (1–5 minutes), then hit Send as episode.

The episode is queued right away, and the audio lands in your pod's feed a few minutes later. The extension remembers your last-used pod and length, so next time it's two clicks.

The extension only reads a page when you click Send. It never tracks your browsing.
